How will the City of Colorado Springs plan for its future?
We are in the process of updating our Comprehensive Plan. Visit the PlanCOS page to learn more.
What is a Comprehensive Plan?
A city’s comprehensive plan is a visionary document that guides the future growth in a city. The City of Colorado Springs Comprehensive Plan (2001) is our current guide for how we will grow into the year 2020. The plan expresses how we want our city to be tomorrow, serves as a decision-making tool, lays out the foundation to achieve our vision, and tells us how we can measure our efforts to see how we’re doing.
Officially, the comprehensive plan lays out the policy framework and mapped context of the city. This helps decision makers make tough choices regarding land use. With the comprehensive plan, we will know what our vision is, how we will reach that vision, and know how to measure our progress in meeting that vision.
