City residents are invited to attend “Renter Rights 101,” a free information session scheduled for Tuesday, May 4 from 6 - 8 p.m.
This workshop features Colorado Legal Services attorney Clinton Albert. Participants can learn about lease basics, reasonable accommodations and modifications, deposits, repairs, eviction, and updates on recent Colorado legislation on housing matters. Other community legal and housing resources will be shared.
“Renters can prevent a conflict from becoming an eviction by knowing their rights and responsibilities, which will be covered in this free class,” said Barb Van Hoy, City of Colorado Springs Community Development Division policy analyst.
The event, available for in-person attendance at the Independence Center, 729 S. Tejon St., Colorado Springs, can also be viewed virtually at ColoradoSprings.gov/renters101. Attendees can pre-register or join without registering.
Colorado Legal Services is a nonprofit organization helping low-income individuals and seniors in Colorado. The workshop offers general information for tenants and cannot provide specific legal advice. The event kicks off the 2023 Renter Rights Workshop series, produced in collaboration with the City of Colorado Springs Community Development Division, the Pikes Peak Library District, The Justice Center, Colorado Housing Connects and the Independence Center.
