Please follow the rules and code of conduct stated below. Sertich staff has the authority to enforce the rules and may limit some types of activity to ensure safety.
- Skate at your own risk. The City of Colorado Springs is not responsible for accidents.
- The City of Colorado Springs recommends that you wear a helmet for your own protection.
- Be courteous and respect other skaters.
- Maintain a safe speed. Skating in a manner that endangers or interferes with another skaters’ safety is prohibited.
- Rough play, excessive speeding, weaving through other skaters and games such as tag or keep away are prohibited.
- Throwing snowballs or any other object and kicking holes in the ice is prohibited.
- Follow the flow of traffic.
- Skaters understand the assumption of risk agreement; by engaging in skating, skaters are deemed to have knowledge of, and assume the inherent risks of skating, which include but are not limited to the following:
- Injuries that result from collisions or contact with other skaters or other individuals who are on the skating surface.
- Injuries that result from falls.
- Injuries that involve objects or artificial structures that are properly within the intended path of travel of the skater.
- Providing instruction or coaching of any kind is only permitted with prior approval of Sertich management. Approved instructors must provide a copy of personal liability insurance.
- Skaters are responsible for knowing the range of their ability while on skates, and for skating safely within the limits of their ability.

- All figure skating, dancing, jumps, and/or spins are restricted to figure skating sessions and may not be executed during public skate sessions.
- Skates or ice cleats are required when on the ice.
- No food or beverages are permitted on the ice.
- Skaters are not permitted to carry children or secondary items such as cameras, purses, cell phones, firearms, etc., while on the ice.
- Do not stand still on the ice. Please keep moving.
- Bobby the Seal®
- No free spinning, releasing, or launching users on Bobby the Seal®
- No trains with Bobby the Seal®
- No kicking, flipping or crashing Bobby the Seal®
- Training equipment for figure skating, hockey or speedskating such as hockey sticks, pucks or harnesses are not allowed on the ice during public skate sessions.
- The center of the ice is coned off and reserved for coaches in private lessons. Do not skate through the coned off area.
- Get to your feet quickly when you fall.
- In the event of an injury, please notify Sertich staff immediately.
- Leave the ice during ice maintenance.
- Children must be supervised at all times while in the facility.
- Be aware of all exits. In case of emergency use the nearest exit.
- Skaters and spectators are responsible for damage and repair costs associated with reckless or negligent use of equipment and/or the facility.
- The use of abusive, threatening, dangerous, criminal or violent behavior and foul or abusive language is not permitted anywhere in the facility.
- Violations of rink policies including violence, abuse, or harassment; the use of alcohol or drugs; and/or the destruction of public property will result in immediate suspension and possible permanent suspension from the facility.
- Lock all personal belongings in lockers. The City of Colorado Springs is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
- Rules and Code of Conduct are not comprehensive, and staff may enforce additional rules at their discretion.
