CSPD Grant Application for the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Fiscal Year 2024 Local Solicitation
The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program is the primary provider of federal criminal justice funding to state and local jurisdictions and provides critical funding necessary to support a range of program areas including law enforcement; prosecution and court programs; prevention and education programs; corrections and community corrections; drug treatment and enforcement; crime victim and witness initiatives; and planning, evaluation, and technology improvement programs.
The Bureau of Justice Assistance and Bureau of Justice Statistics determine the award allocations to units of local government (such as the City of Colorado Springs and El Paso County) based on their proportion of the state’s 3-year violent crime average. This year’s allocation for Colorado Springs and El Paso County is $254,662, of which $214,555 is allocated to the Colorado Springs Police Department and the remaining $40,107 is allocated to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
As required by the funder, the application must be made public prior to the grant submission and an opportunity must be provided to submit comments.
