On Monday, August 21, 2023, at approximately 2:48 AM, the Colorado Springs Police Department received a report of a shooting at an apartment complex in the 900 block of North 19th Street. Upon arrival, officers located a deceased adult male on the scene. Detectives from the CSPD Homicide Unit responded to continue the investigation.
On August 22, 2023, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy on the deceased male, identified as 32-year-old Gabriel Villanueba, from Colorado Springs.
On September 11, 2023, the Colorado Springs Police Department Homicide Unit obtained arrest warrants for persons believed to be responsible for the death of Mr. Villanueba.
Also on September 11, 2023, The Violent Offender Fugitive Task Force, with the help of the Tactical Enforcement Unit, K-9 Unit, and Motor Vehicle Theft Unit, took four individuals into custody for their roles in the death of Mr. Villanueba. A 13-year-old male, a 15-year-old male, and two 18-year-old males were arrested for Murder in the second degree as well as other charges.
The two 18-year-olds are identified as Santiago Dominguez and Ali Talib, both from Colorado Springs. Mugshots of Mr. Dominguez and Mr. Talib will be released on the CSPD X account, formerly known as Twitter.
