On August 22, 2023, at approximately 10:30 am, the Colorado Springs Police Department received multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting an adult male had crashed a car, a white Mercedes, in the 3800 Block of Broadmoor Valley Drive. Community members reported the male immediately exited his vehicle with a rifle and a handgun and began shooting into the air. The suspect then ran northbound into a ravine.
Numerous officers responded, including patrol officers from the Gold Hill Division, the Tactical Enforcement Unit, Canine Unit, and the Unmanned Ariel Vehicle unit. Upon arriving on scene, they located a handgun and ammunition inside of the crashed vehicle. The officers were told the suspect went in multiple different directions, so they set up containment and began trying to follow the identified paths the suspect might have gone. While following one path, they located a rifle abandoned in the middle of a road.
As officers worked to find the suspect, they were notified staff from the Cheyenne Mountain Resort had detained the suspect on the golf course. Officers responded to the golf course and took the suspect into custody. When the suspect was arrested, two additional handguns were located in close proximity to him.

We will identify the suspect and release his booking photograph on our X account, formerly known as Twitter, when the release will not negatively impact the investigation.
