On October 13, 2023, at approximately 5:36 PM, CSPD was notified of a vehicle versus motorcycle crash at the intersection of Airport Road and Sand Creek Drive. Emergency personnel arrived on the scene and determined the motorcycle rider was deceased.
The investigation revealed the driver of an SUV was traveling north on Sand Creek Drive and was attempting to make a left-hand turn to go West on Airport Road. The motorcycle was traveling East on Airport Road in the right-through lane and collided with the SUV.
Based on this information, the Colorado Springs Police Department Major Crash Team responded to the scene and assumed responsibility for the investigation.
On October 14, 2023, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy on the deceased motorcycle rider and identified him as Preston Williams, a 49-year-old resident of Colorado Springs.
This is the 41st traffic fatality this year in Colorado Springs. At this time last year, there were 44 traffic fatalities. There have been 53 traffic fatalities in Colorado Springs in the last 365 days.
