On Sunday, August 6, 2023, at 4:59 PM, members of the Colorado Springs Police Department were dispatched to the area of Interstate 25 and South Circle Drive on a single-vehicle motorcycle crash. Upon arrival, officers located a motorcycle rider who appeared to have left the roadway, striking the center median guardrail. Upon striking the guardrail, the lone rider of the motorcycle was ejected from the motorcycle, landing on the roadway. The motorcycle rider was transported from the scene to a local hospital with serious injuries.
On Thursday, August 10, 2023, the Colorado Springs Police Department was notified that the motorcycle rider had died from injuries sustained in the crash. On Friday, August 11, 2023, the El Paso County Coroner's Office conducted an autopsy on the deceased motorcycle rider. The motorcycle rider was identified as 46-year-old Jason Coleman. Mr. Coleman was a resident of the Tucson, Arizona, area at the time of his death.
This is the 28th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs for 2023. At this same time last year, there were 27 traffic fatalities in Colorado Springs. In the past 365 days, there have been 57 traffic fatalities in Colorado Springs.
