On Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at 2:32 PM, members with the Colorado Springs Police Department were dispatched to the 2000 block of South Circle Drive regarding a single-vehicle traffic crash involving a rollover and possible ejection.
Once on scene, officers found that the person ejected from the vehicle was deceased. Due to the nature of the crash, the Major Crash Team was contacted and responded to the scene to assume the investigation. Currently, it is unknown if speed or impairment are factors in the investigation.
On Thursday, August 17, 2023, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy on the deceased driver. The deceased driver has been identified as nineteen-year-old Keltey Faulkner-Pettus of Colorado Springs.
This is the 29th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs this year. At this same time last year, Colorado Springs had 29 fatal traffic crashes in Colorado Springs this year. In the past 365 days, there have been 56 traffic fatalities in Colorado Springs.
