COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – In a Special Work Session on Monday, Jan. 11, Colorado Springs’ City Council swore in James “Mike” O’Malley to fill the vacant District 6 seat for the remainder of the term.

In a Special Work Session on Monday morning City Council had one final discussion and vote to confirm Mike O’Malley to fill the Colorado Springs City Council District 6 seat. Mr. O’Malley will fill the remaining term of former Councilmember Andy Pico who was elected to the Colorado House of Representatives in November and will be representing District 16. In the April election, Colorado Springs voters will vote on candidates to fill the new 4 year term for District 6 which is on the east side of the city.
Following the vote, Mike O’Malley was officially sworn onto Council and started right away on the Monday Work Session. Mr. O’Malley also works full time as a Department of Transportation Specialist. Following being sworn in Mr. O’Malley says “Let’s get to work”.

Mike O’Malley moved to Colorado Springs in July of 2019 to represent the Office of the Secretary of Transportation at NORAD & USNORTHCOM. He has extensive experience with the Department of Transportation and is a retired Captain in the Navy Reserves. He lists his hobbies as Grandfather, Golf, Hiking, and Skiing.
