On Friday, November 5, 2021, at approximately 4:03 P.M., the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) was notified of a crash involving a pick-up truck and a bicyclist at the intersection of San Miguel Street and El Paso Street. Responding officers located the bicyclist suffering from serious injuries. The bicyclist was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. It was also learned that the driver of the pick-up truck fled the scene prior to police arrival.
Evidence located on the scene, in conjunction with witness statements, point to the suspect vehicle being identified as a silver 2001-2004 model 4-door Dodge Dakota Quad-Cab pick-up truck with a ladder rack. The vehicle should have damage to the front left corner and a broken left headlight.
Further investigation led to the discovery of a surveillance video which captured an image of the suspect vehicle fleeing the scene northbound on El Paso Street. *Please find a photo of the vehicle on the attached press release.
The CSPD Major Crash Team is now at a point in this investigation that they are asking for the community’s help in locating the vehicle or identifying the driver.
