To help keep Colorado Springs clean and beautiful, Trash Mobs have been formed to keep walkways, bike paths, and creek corridors free of litter through clean-ups or "trash mobs." We select a public space such as a creek, trail, park, or neighborhoodA geographic sub-area within the city that contains but is not limited to residential land uses. The extent of a neighborhood is variable and may be defined by tradition, organizational boundaries, period of building and development, or subdivision patterns. Neighborhood boundaries may include such features as major streets or other physical elements. that have a significant amount of litter, and we set a time and day to go and pick up trash. A Trash Mob is only 1 hour in length to minimize the impact of volunteer schedules.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own gloves, wear sturdy boots, and practice personal safety.
We welcome community feedback on which areas of Colorado Springs are heavily-littered that we may target for future trash mobs. Additionally, if you or your organization would like to publicize and/or sponsor a trash mob event, we are always in need of publicity, incentives for participants, and trash grabbers to save the mob's back.
- We are seeking donations to help our volunteers and are in need of the following items:
- Nitrile Gloves (all sizes)
- Work Gloves (with a rubber coated palm, all sizes)
- Trash Pickers, Grippers, and Grabber tools
