Biographical Information: Biographical Information: Commander Scott Whittington joined the Colorado Springs Police Department in February 1988. As a police officer, he has held a variety of assignments to include, Patrol, and investigations as an Economic, Sex Crimes, and Fugitive Detective. He was promoted to sergeant in January of 1999 and served in Patrol, Internal Affairs and Investigations as the Robbery Unit Sergeant. In March of 2006, he was promoted to lieutenant and served in Patrol, Office of Emergence Management, and Professional Standards. In July of 2013, he was promoted to Commander of the Office of Professional Standards.
Commander Whittington was responsible for Planning/Research and Grants; Public Information Office; Community Relations; Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement (CALEA); Internal Affairs; and the Training Academy. In July of 2014, he was assigned to the Sand Creek Patrol Division, which has responsibilities for the southeast portion of Colorado Springs. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University and a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs.
