DAB 601 - Concrete/Excavation/Traffic Control Permits

Construction activity in the City right-of-way (R.O.W.) requires contractors to have either a concrete license and/ or excavation license. These licenses are issued and verified through the City Clerk’s office at 30 S. Nevada Avenue, Suite 101. Before any work in the City R.O.W. can start, the licensed contractor will need to have either a concrete and/or excavation permit. General Contractor licenses do not cover work in the City R.O.W.

Concrete Permits

A concrete permit is required when a licensed contractor installs new or repairs existing concrete sidewalk, curb, gutter or other concrete items within the City R.O.W.

Excavation Permit

An excavation permit is required when a licensed contractor needs to excavate into the City R.O.W. to repair or install new water lines, sanitary lines, fiber optic, storm sewer pipe, etc. Both Concrete Permits and Excavation Permits require a traffic control/barricade plan.

Traffic Control Only Permits

Traffic Control Only Permits are required for work in the R.O.W. which does not involve other concrete or excavation work.

Permit Application

Applying and paying for a Concrete, Excavation or Traffic Control Only Permit can be completed either by coming to the City Engineering Inspection office at 30 S. Nevada Avenue, Suite 405, or online at www.coloradosprings.gov.
