Garden of the Gods Park Shuttle

Following a transportation study conducted earlier this year, Garden of the Gods Park will offer a free public shuttle service through the park this summer. The shuttle runs from the end of May through the beginning of September.

Shuttles are accessible to individuals with disabilities.

Only service animals are allowed on shuttles. No pets.

Visitors to Garden of the Gods Park are not required to take the shuttle in order to access the park. In addition to the free shuttle, visitors may access the park on foot, bicycle or by vehicle. Parking areas and pull-offs are available throughout the park.

Shuttle Loop and Stops

Shuttles will depart the free Rock Ledge Ranch parking lot approximately every 15 minutes daily from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Shuttles will take approximately 30 minutes to complete a three-stop loop with stops at:

  • Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site
  • the Garden of the Gods Visitor & Nature Center and
  • the intersection of Gateway Road and Juniper Way Loop, which connects to a trail into the Central Garden zone. 

Hours of Operation

Shuttles run from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. on the following days:

  • May 26-28
  • Daily from Saturday, June 2 through August 26
  • September 1-2

Parking

Shuttle users can park in an overflow parking lot near the intersection of 30th Street and Gateway Drive at Rock Ledge Ranch. (No oversized vehicles are allowed in the overflow parking lot due to space constraints.) Parking and shuttle access are also available at the Garden of the Gods Visitor and Nature Center.

Additional parking is available at the Garden of the Gods Trading Post on the south side of the park and in designated lots throughout the park. There is no shuttle access from these locations. 

Parking is free.

FAQs

Are there other ways to avoid traffic congestion in Garden of the Gods Park?

Yes. Crowding is generally less of an issue before 9:00 a.m. and after 5:00 p.m. daily.T he pilot shuttles will not be available at these times. The park is open to the public daily from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Are there other ways to access the Garden of the Gods Visitor and Nature Center and the park itself from the overflow parking lot?

Yes. You can access the Foothills Trail by heading north and crossing Gateway Road, then following the trail under 30th Street to reach the Visitor Center. It's approximately one-quarter mile away. You can access the Gateway Trail into the park itself by heading north, crossing Gateway Road, and then accessing the trail that heads west into the park. It's approximately a half-mile one way to reach the Central Garden Zone.

Is the Foothills Trail still open with the expansion of the overflow parking lot?

Yes, The trail has been temporarily realigned to follow the first part of the gravel road that runs through the field east of Rock Ledge Ranch and then connects back into the existing trail. A full realignment of the Foothills Trail is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2018.

Is the Gateway Trail being improved?

Yes, The trail is being improved with an accessible, widened breeze trail that will be completed by the end of 2018.

What is the purpose of the pilot shuttle program?

Ultimately to improve the visitor experience while protecting the Garden of the Gods Park. In order to accomplish this goal, a pilot shuttle program and an expanded overflow parking lot are being implemented.
