Panorama Park in Southeast Colorado Springs has been named the winner of the 2024 Colorado Lottery People's Choice Starburst Award.

Launched for the first time this year, the People's Choice Starburst Award allowed Lottery proceeds partners, players, and the public to vote on their favorite Starburst Award project. With 1,858 votes out of more than 16,000 votes submitted, Panorama Park emerged as the top choice, narrowly beating out the Lake San Cristobal Peninsula Park project by just 52 votes.

"We are thrilled and honored that Panorama Park received the 2024 Colorado Lottery People's Choice Starburst Award," said Britt Haley, Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Director. "This recognition reflects the overwhelming support from the Colorado Springs community as well as the hard work and dedication of our parks, recreation and cultural services team. We are grateful for each and every vote that helped Panorama Park to be chosen as the “People’s Choice."

The Colorado Lottery Starburst Awards aim to highlight outstanding projects that have been funded through Lottery proceeds, showcasing the positive impact these projects have on communities across the state. Panorama Park's win in the People's Choice category is a testament to the park's popularity and significance to local residents.

The award-winning Panorama Park project is the result of collaborative efforts between Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services (PRCS), RISE|Southeast, and Trust for Public Land (TPL), creating a space that truly belongs to the people of Colorado Springs. The park's amenities and design reflect the community's needs and desires, offering a place for residents to come together, play and foster community.

“I am ecstatic and grateful that Panorama Park won the people’s choice award! It is well deserved!” said Colorado Springs Councilmember Yolanda Avila. “Panorama Park is so vital to the well-being of the people in District 4 who I represent on City Council. This was possible because of all the collaboration with community, philanthropy, government entities, and non-profits.”

The award will be presented to PRCS this fall. More details will be released once confirmed.
