Residents skate on Acacia Park's ice rink for Skate in the Park.

The City and Downtown Partnership of Colorado Springs will host the Acacia Holiday Celebration and the return of Skate in the Park on Friday, Nov. 15. 

The family-friendly event, which begins at 6 p.m., is free, open to the public and will feature pictures with Santa, a small ceremony with remarks from Mayor Yemi Mobolade and Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Director Britt Haley, food and beverage trucks, a special U.S. Figure Skating performance, bell ringers and more

Stake in the Park will also kick off on Friday with public skating sessions from 4 to 6 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tickets are available on site for $13 per session.

Skate in the Park, a program of the City of Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department and Downtown Partnership of Colorado Springs, welcomes an average of 22,000 people each season. Admission throughout the season is $13 per skater and includes skate rental. Children 4 and under are free with a paid adult. A $1 discount is available for patrons with a valid military or first responder ID. Activities will be offered throughout the season including an opportunity to skate with the Air Force Falcons Hockey Team and U.S. Figure Skating. The annual tradition will be open to the public until Jan. 31. 

Skate in the Park supporters include presenting sponsor Academy Bank, gold sponsors Metronet and The Gazette, silver sponsors Early Connections, Groundworks, Tallgrass Energy and U.S. Figure Skating, and bronze sponsor the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College. Another partner, radio station Sunny 106.3, will be live with giveaways and more on Nov. 15 from 4 to 6 p.m.

Acacia Park Holiday Celebration  

The Acacia Park Holiday Celebration is free and open to the public. See below for the event's agenda:

  • 6:00 p.m. - Enjoy food trucks, listen to festive bell ringers, and snap a photo with Santa
  • 6:20 p.m. - Opening remarks
  • 6:40 p.m. - Watch a breathtaking demonstration by US Figure Skating athletes
  • 7:00 p.m. - Time to hit the ice!
