As the directing body for $5M in block grant funds received annually from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the City of Colorado Springs Community Development Division (CDD) will host three public meetings to share the preliminary draft plan for the utilization of HUD funding from 2020-2024. The City will also seek resident input on specific community development needs in the City.
Public feedback will be used to shape the final draft of the 2020-2024 Consolidated Plan and 2020 Annual Action Plan for the use of federal block grant funds received annually from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The City receives about $5 million per year which it funnels to affordable housing, homelessness prevention, economic development, non-profit assistance and neighborhood improvements for low-income populations. Funds include the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME), and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG).
The final draft plans will be released for public review and comment in January 2020.
The City encourages all residents to attend, especially neighborhood leaders, service providers and community advocates. Attendance is free and light refreshments will be served. To request an interpreter at the meeting, please call (719) 385-6876 or email email@example.com at least 48 hours before the start time.
